Owl Love

If there is one thing you should probably know about me, it’s that I love owls!  Real owls, cartoon owls, owl figurines, owl jewelry, you name it – I think it’s great.  So you can imagine my excitement when I was gifted this stunning genuine stone owl necklace and earring set!  (Thanks Aunt Sherry!)  The pieces are really so lovely on their own that I wanted to keep the rest of my look simple to show them off.  I chose a pair of army green jeans and a plain white blouse, belted simply with a skinny belt.  This way I let the owls do the talking.  A pair of gray faux suede booties completed the look.  I had a great day checking out the exhibits at the MoMA.  These photos were taken just outside!

Lady In Orange-Red

Remember that post where I said I didn’t look good in red?  Well that was Christmas red or 4th of July red.  Give me a red with an orange tint or plum tint and I’m good to go!  This particular dress is a stunning mix of orange and red that Old Navy has dubbed “Amaryllis Red.”  I wore it to a wedding a week or so ago and it was just perfect for the early September festivities.  A tie waist and dolman sleeves makes this dress particularly flattering on all body types.  My neutral multi-toned heels were a great addition to the look and went well with the brightness.  This is the first post with my new haircut (which is actually a couple weeks old now.)  It’s great to have it finally make an appearance.  I also made sure to take these photos in front of railroad tracks for my Dad!  P.S. – Pardon the dress wrinkles, I was in the car for four hours getting there.

Wish List: Statement Cuffs

I have been really into wearing bracelets lately. I like to wear several that compliment each other and mix and match them. Sometimes in the mix, you just need to throw in a statement cuff! Or you could even choose to wear your statement cuff alone! Either way, it’s sure to add some eye catching appeal to your look.

1. / 2. / 3. / 4. / 5.

I’m not sure I can choose a favorite from the above group! For more “arm party” and statement cuff inspiration, make sure to stop by my Pinterest and check out my Necessary Accessory board!

Simple Maxi Skirt

There is nothing easier than a maxi skirt to create a simple outfit.  The trend is big this season and you can easily go casual or dressier with your look.  I opted for a little dressier for a high school graduation I attended this weekend.

The skirt is made of a comfortable jersey material.  To dress up my look, I chose a lace top in a neutral peach color.  The spaces of the lace allow for a cami to be worn underneath and peek through.  I decided on black to compliment the skirt.  You could also choose to only wear a bra if you want to take a risk!

I chose a bold statement necklace and lots of bracelets to add to my outfit.  I am currently watch-less so I made up for it by adding bracelets to both arms.   My new wine colored satchel looked great with the neutral top and black skirt.  A little bit of orange hued lipstick was a nice touch as well.

I’m always thinking of ways to incorporate the bright trend this season.  For this look I decided on a pair of dark coral sandals!    You can see the brightness pop out from under the skirt when I walk or when I’m sitting down.
