Breaking the Suede Rules

I am so far behind in outfit posts and they’ve gotten a bit out of order, but a couple of weeks ago, my awesome neighborhood in Brooklyn had a street fair.  They closed down the entire length of the best street in my area from subway to subway and filled it with vendors, shops, games, and food and drink stands!  It was awesome!  And perfect for taking photos in the street.

I’ve never been one to follow rules, style or otherwise, and this post is no exception.  I decided to take a great suede skirt and summerize it.  Adding a tank top blouse kept me cool and the teal color of the top matched perfectly with the skirt.  My now signature cowgirl boots were just what I needed to spend the day walking up and down the street fair.  I had a wonderful time and even scored a few inexpensive jewelry finds!

Light Gray Jeans

I have yet to take the plunge and wear white jeans.  I like them, I’m just not sure they are me.  So this awesome light gray skinny pair is a super alternative!

I chose another type of jean for this look also – a blue jean vest!  The blue of the vest compliments the light gray of the jeans so well.  My patterned sleeveless top really ties the vest and jeans together.

It was a great Saturday in Brooklyn!  A friend’s birthday party on their porch in the beautiful weather was a highlight.  It was a little chilly Saturday evening so the jeans were a good choice.

I recently added a wine colored top handle satchel to my collection.  You know I cannot get enough!  The color in itself is just gorgeous and pairs with almost any outfit.  To complete my look, I chose some fancy footwear.  A pair of peep toe booties I picked up last year in tan.  All in all, good weekend!

Memorial Blues & Red

Memorial Day this year was very relaxing.  I spent it in my neighborhood with my husband and puppy.  We made sausages on the grill and caught up on Game of Thrones.  It was perfect.

I wanted to be comfortable because we weren’t doing much.  I also wanted to incorporate some form of holiday colors into my look.  I don’t own much red except for a pair of red pants.  I have found over the years that red doesn’t look great near my face because of my olive undertones.  So this burgundy blouse is my alternative!

I get my Memorial Day blues from both my knee length jean shorts and my jean hat.  The blues really accentuate the burgundy of my sleeveless top.  Adding some special jewelry and a small retro satchel bag, I was all set and ready for an extra day off!

My choice of footwear was kept neutral to not take away from the blues and red.  I ended up getting one of the Spring/Summer oxfords off my Wish List post!  I love them.  They are super comfortable and very breathable for the warm weather!

Lime Accent

I took a break from the city for the weekend and headed home to see my family and attend my cousin’s high school graduation party!  It was really nice and also really warm!

I chose a lovely lime colored skirt and paired it with a chambray sleeveless top.  It was easy breezy for spending some time outside on the warm Saturday.

I love the bright trend for Spring/Summer!  You can really play around with mixing bright on bright or bright with muted.  A bright accent really pairs wonderfully with the blues of chambray.  I finished the look with some nice silver jewelry, a brown skinny belt, and my tan satchel.
